- Contribution from Giovanni Lelli, Architect
One of the few European architects to be committed to delivering projects using innovative concretes, Giovanni Lelli has in the course of his various projects developed a form of know-how and, beyond this, a powerful credo on the plastic possibilities of his concretes. Each project is an opportunity to innovate, as Giovanni Lelli believes that innovation is a deontological duty and even a vital necessity. This expertise which has gradually become acknowledged was developed during:
His first test of mixing crushed glass to concrete aggregate, approximately 15 years ago,
Laying concrete in layers of different texture and colour,
The largest concrete cantilever in France today, 10 years ago,
A prototype of “transparent” poured concrete, three years ago,
A project to create a concrete wall designed to grow moss and lichen, 11 years ago,
The installation of UHPC panels covered with glass beads, two years ago.
Giovanni Lelli’s research is essentially plastic and currently addresses incorporating larger quantities of glass into concrete paste, and into the deterioration of concrete by living species.
