Contributions from François de LARRARD & Kathy Bru

  • François de Larrard, Scientific Director at Recybéton

François de Larrard is the Scientific Director of the LafargeHolcim group. He is a graduate of Polytechnique and Ponts et Chaussées and the holder of a doctorate. His career started at LCPC (now IFSTTAR) where he conducted research in the field of concrete and cement-based materials applied to the bridge and road sector. He joined LafargeHolcim seven years ago, where his role is to provide scientific support to R&D projects and liaise with the academic world. In parallel, he is in charge of the scientific coordination of the national project Recybéton, bringing together fifty partners around the issue of using recycled concrete within new concrete

  • Kathy Bru, Project Manager, BRGM

Kathy BRU has been working at BRGM since 2006 as process engineer. She specialises in the development of innovative selective fragmentation and separation techniques applied to minerals and waste. These techniques not only reduce the amount of energy required for crushing but also enhance the liberation of constituents held within the material, thus producing higher added value fractions. In particular, she is involved in several national and European projects relating to the recycling of building and public works waste such as the European project HISER coordinated by Tecnalia (Spain) and in which she conducts research on the recycling of very high-performance fibre-reinforced concrete.
